Temporal complexity of the order parameter at the phase transition.
We study a decision making model in a condition where it is equivalent to the two-dimensional Ising model, and we show that at the onset of phase transition it generates temporal complexity, namely, nonstationary and nonergodic fluctuations. We argue that this is a general property of criticality, thereby opening the door to the application of the recently discovered phenomenon of complexity ma...
متن کاملNucleation at the first order phase transition in MnAs nanodisks
The first-order phase transition near 40◦C in as-grown thin epitaxial MnAs films prepared by molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs(001) and nanometer-scale disks fabricated from the same films is studied. The disks are found to exhibit a pronounced hysteresis in the temperature curve of the phase composition, i.e. supercooling and overheating take place in the disks whereas they are far less in the sa...
متن کاملChiral Phase Transition at Strong Coupling in Lattice QCD
We study the chiral phase transition with staggered fermions on the lattice at finite temperature in the strong coupling limit. The thermodynamic potential is derived in the large d approximation where d + 1 is the dimension of space time. Our calculation is simpler than the conventional method and leads to a simple physical interpretation for the approximation scheme.
متن کاملOrder-disorder phase transition in Zn1ÀxMnxGa2Se4 : Long-range order parameter versus x
The opportunity of the Zn12xMnxGa2Se4 (0<x<1) series for exploring the possibilities of orderingdisordering processes as a function of x is shown. A pumping of Mn ions from one particular site of the crystal lattice to another occurs in this system on addition of Zn. As a consequence, the tetragonal diluted magnetic semiconductor Zn12xMnxGa2Se4 series exhibits an order-disorder phase transition...
متن کاملAn All-order Discontinuity at the Electroweak Phase Transition
We define a non-local gauge-invariant Green’s function which can distinguish between the symmetric (confinement) and broken (Higgs) phases of the hot SU(2)×U(1) electroweak theory to all orders in the perturbative expansion. It is related to the coupling of the Chern-Simons number to a massless Abelian gauge field. The result implies either that there is a way to distinguish between the phases,...
